Privacy Policy
Effective 27 September 2026
This policy explains what Snag collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website at getsnag.io and the Snag apps when they launch.
1. Where Snag is up to
Snag is not open to the public yet. This website has no accounts, no login and no product feed, so most of what follows describes what will happen when the service launches rather than what is happening now. Section 2 is what applies today.
2. What this website collects today
- Nothing you type. There are no forms, no accounts and no sign-up on this site.
- If you email us at hello@getsnag.io, we hold your email address and whatever you write, so we can reply.
- Standard server and delivery logs. Our hosting provider records requests for pages — IP address, timestamp, browser user agent and the page requested — as part of serving and protecting the site. We use these for security and to keep the site working.
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies, embeds no third-party trackers and records no session replays, and it serves its own fonts rather than loading them from a font service.
3. What Snag will collect when the service launches
Account information
The details you give us to create an account: your name, your email address, your date of birth, a password held only in hashed form, and — only if you choose to give one — a phone number. The date of birth is asked for only to check you are old enough to use Snag; it is never shown to anyone and never used for recommendations or advertising. The phone number is used only to help keep your account secure; it is never shared and never used for marketing. If you sign up through a referral code, we record which code you used.
Before an account exists, we hold the email address you ask us to send a sign-up code to, so the code can be checked. That record is deleted within a day, whether or not you finish signing up.
Swipe and interaction history
The core of the product. We record what you are shown and what you do with it: keeps, skips, saves, searches, items added to a cart, taps through to a retailer, and how long a product was on screen. We use this to work out what to show you next. It is what makes the feed useful, and it is the largest category of data we hold about you.
Affiliate click tracking
When you follow a link from Snag to a retailer, that click is tracked so the retailer and the affiliate network can tell that the visit came from us and pay any commission owed. In practice this means:
- We record that your account clicked through to a particular product at a particular time.
- The link carries an identifier for Snag — and, where an influencer referred you, an identifier for that referral — to the affiliate network.
- The affiliate network and the retailer set their own cookies at that point and apply their own privacy policies. We do not control them.
- Later, the network tells us that a purchase happened and what commission is due. We receive order value, currency and timing, and we match it back to the click. We do not receive your payment details, and we never see your card.
Device and technical data
Device type, operating system, app version, approximate region inferred from IP address, and crash diagnostics.
Social accounts
We do not pull your likes, follows or interests from Instagram, TikTok or any other social network. If we later offer social sign-in, it would give us only the basic profile details needed to sign you in, and this policy would be updated first.
4. Why we use it
- To run your account and keep you signed in.
- To choose which products to show you, and in what order.
- To attribute purchases correctly, so retailers pay commission owed and influencers are paid for referrals that qualify.
- To answer support requests and investigate bug reports.
- To detect fraud and abuse, and to keep the service secure.
- To understand, in aggregate, which parts of the product work — not to build a profile for advertisers.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your swipe history with retailers, brands or advertisers.
- We do not run third-party advertising on Snag.
- Being paid a commission does not change your feed: commission rates are not an input to the ranking.
6. Who we share it with
- Affiliate networks and retailers — the click and referral identifiers described above, which is what makes commission attribution work.
- Service providers that host and operate the service on our behalf (cloud hosting, email delivery, error monitoring), under contract and only for that purpose.
- Influencers in our referral programme — aggregate counts of referrals and qualifying purchases. Never an individual's identity or swipe history.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
7. How long we keep it
Account and interaction data are kept while your account is open. If you delete your account, we mark it for deletion immediately and stop using it in any feed, recommendation or attribution from that moment, then erase or anonymise personal data after a short grace period — long enough for you to change your mind, and to keep the purchase and payout records that tax and accounting rules require us to retain. Those retained financial records are kept without the personal detail that is not needed for them.
8. Your choices
- Pause your account — reversible. Your data is kept, but you disappear from feeds and attribution until you return.
- Delete your account — as described in section 7, from inside the app rather than by emailing us.
- Access or correct your data, or ask for a copy of it.
- Object to or restrict certain uses, where the law where you live gives you that right.
Until accounts exist, email hello@getsnag.io for any of these.
9. Children
Snag is for people aged 18 and over. Creating an account starts by asking for a date of birth, before anything else; if it is under 18, we stop there and keep nothing that was typed. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone younger has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
10. Where your data is held
Snag is operated using cloud infrastructure in the United States. If you use the service from elsewhere, your data is transferred there.
11. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, passwords are stored only as hashes, and access to production systems is restricted. No service can promise perfect security, and we do not.
12. Changes
We will update this policy as Snag is built out — the launch of accounts and the catalogue will change what section 3 describes from future to present. When a change is material, we will update the effective date above and, once accounts exist, tell you directly.
13. Contact
