About Snag
Snag is an independent project. It is not owned by, funded by or operated on behalf of any retailer, brand, marketplace or affiliate network.
What this site is
Two things, and it is worth being precise about which is which. The first is a publication: 10 original guides to buying clothes online — how size charts actually work, what a composition label leaves out, what a product photograph is staged to hide. Those are written here, they are finished, and you can read them today.
The second is an app, still being built, for finding clothes by swiping rather than searching. It has no catalogue and no users yet, and the home page says so rather than showing a demo dressed up as a working product.
Who writes the guides
They are written in-house by the person building Snag. They are not commissioned from a content agency, not spun from other people's articles, and not generated and published unread. Where a guide gives a measurement, a fibre property or a care symbol, that is something we checked rather than something we remembered.
Editorial policy
These are rules, not aspirations, and they are the ones worth holding us to:
- No affiliate links in the body of a guide. The articles are not a vehicle for monetised links, and there are none in them.
- No sponsored posts, no paid placement, no gifted product. No brand has paid for a mention, and none has been given one.
- No brand receives approval over what we publish. Nothing here is submitted to anyone before it goes up.
- Commission never affects what you are shown. Rates are not an input to ranking or recommendation — set out in full in our Affiliate Disclosure.
- Corrections are made in place and dated. If a guide is wrong, it gets fixed and carries the date it was updated, rather than being quietly edited or pulled.
How Snag makes money
It does not yet. The intention is affiliate commission: when someone follows a link from Snag to a retailer and buys something, the retailer or its affiliate network pays us a share of the sale. It costs the shopper nothing — the price is the retailer's own — and it does not change which products are shown or the order they appear in. No affiliate links are live on this site today. There is no paid tier planned, no advertising, and we do not sell personal information. What is collected and why is in the Privacy Policy.
Where things stand
The guides are live. Accounts, the product catalogue and the swipe feed are in development, and there is no announced launch date — we would rather say that than invent a deadline and miss it. There are no users, no downloads and no testimonials, and you will not find any claimed anywhere on this site.
